Community Involvement

Westbury Primary School is a very important part of the Westbury community.

The school has a strong relationship with the Westbury RSL Sub Branch. Each year we work with the RSL on a number of activities to recognise ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day as well as other key events in our military past. In 2017 we were integral in the commemorative service that was held at Westbury for the centenary of the Battle of Beersheba.

In 2018 we collaborated with the RSL and the Westbury & District History Society to produce a book about that recognised the contribution of 245 service men and women from the Westbury district during World War 1.

Every year we support the Westbury Show by submitting artwork and our instrumental band performs on the show stage.

Maypole dancing has been a long tradition in Westbury and each year the school has trained students in the art of maypole dancing and perform at the annual Irish Festival.

Students have also been involved in the development of the Westbury Town Common through Landcare work such as weeding, mulching and planting native animal habitat.
